Executive Biography:HISAKAZU IMAKI
Title: Representative Director and Chairman of the Board
Hisakazu Imaki is representative director and chairman of the board of Mazda Motor Corporation based in Hiroshima, Japan. He was appointed to his present position on November 19, 2008. Prior to his new post, Imaki held the position of representative director, president and CEO of Mazda Motor Corporation.
Imaki joined Mazda Motor Corporation in 1965 (then called Toyo Kogyo Co., Ltd.) and has held a number of leadership positions, particularly in the areas of production engineering and manufacturing. In 1996, he was named a company director and served as general manager of the Hiroshima plant. In 1997, he became a managing executive officer with responsibilities for Production Engineering, Manufacturing and Business Logistics.
Prior to becoming president, Imaki was named in March 2002, representative director, executive vice president and chief engineering & manufacturing officer in charge of Research & Development, Production, Quality Assurance and Business Logistics.
Born in 1942, Imaki graduated from Himeji Institute of Technology with B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1965.
