Leopoldo "Polo" Orellana is the president of Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) where his current responsibilities include marketing, sales, service country manager and strategic support for Mazda's new vehicle and engine assembly plant. Orellana was appointed to the position in November 2011 after having made great contributions as managing director of MMdM.

Leopoldo joined MMdM as managing director in November 2004 with responsibilities including marketing, sales and service country manager. Orellana was appointed to the position after having made great contributions as a member of the Ford Sales Direction Committee in Mexico since January 2000.

Previously, Orellana served at Ford in Mexico from 1986-2004. Leopoldo held several key positions including: a financial analyst of manufacturing and general director of the Lincoln Division in Mexico where he played a key role in launching the Mercury brand in Mexico in October of 2004.

Prior to that, Orellana spent 12 years in the area of finances for Ford, holding positions such as manager of project evaluations, manager of financial planning and manager of planning and business. From 1994 to 1996, he held diverse positions ranging from controller of sales and marketing to controller of product development in Dearborn, Mich.

Orellana was born in Mexico City in 1963. He graduated as a mechanical engineer from Anáhuac University in 1985 and continued on to receive an MBA from the University of Texas in Austin, graduating in 1991. He studied senior business management at IPADE (Pan-American Institute of Senior Business Management).
