IRVINE, Calif. - Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported April 2009 sales of 16,139 in the U.S., down 32.1 percent versus last year, and year-to-date sales of 69,934, down 31.1 percent.
The MX-5 Miata had the best selling month since May 2008, selling 1,307 vehicles.
Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) reported April 2009 sales of 1,296 vehicles, down 20 percent versus last year. On a year-to-date basis, MMdM reported 6,631 total sales, even with last year.
Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI) reported April sales of 8,195 units, down 10.1 percent compared to April 2008. The MAZDA6 was up 211.9 percent versus April 2008 with 763 vehicles sold.

Operations in Canada are managed by Mazda Canada, Inc., located in Ontario; in Mexico by Mazda Motor de Mexico in Mexico City; and in Puerto Rico by Mazda de Puerto Rico in San Juan.
