MAZDA NAMES YASUO KUNITA V.P. OF CUSTOMER SERVICE OPERATIONS & QUALITY ASSURANCE

IRVINE, Calif. - Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today announced the appointment of Yasuo Kunita to vice president of customer service operations and quality assurance, a newly created position, effective Feb. 16, 2009. Kunita joined MNAO from Mazda Motor Corporation one year ago as vice president, quality and technical service.
Kunita has worked for Mazda Motor Corporation for more than 35 years, holding positions as general manager, technical service, and was responsible for global technical service operation. Prior to his time as general manager, technical service, Kunita was general manager, market support, which is a support function of marketing and sales for Asia, Oceania, Middle East, South & Central American market.
In his new role, Kunita will have responsibility for the technical services division, quality assurance (Flat Rock) and the new customer service division, responsible for all customer service operation and QA. Overall, Kunita's responsibility will be to lead the organization to dramatically increase customer loyalty and retention, through high quality of customer service and high quality products.

Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., Mazda North American Operations oversees the sales, marketing, parts and customer service support of Mazda vehicles in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico through nearly 900 dealers. Operations in Canada are managed by Mazda Canada, Inc., located in Ontario; in Mexico by Mazda Motor de Mexico in Mexico City; and in Puerto Rico by Mazda de Puerto Rico in San Juan.
