IRVINE, Calif. - Mazda North American Operations today announced the recent appointment of Dean Case to the position of MAZDASPEED Motorsports communications officer. Reporting to Jeremy Barnes, group manager, product communications, Case will serve as the primary media contact for all North American media on issues relating to MAZDASPEED Motorsports activities ranging from production car based programs in SCCA Club Racing, the MX-5 Cup, SCCA SPEED World Challenge as well as open wheel series like Star Mazda and the Champ Car Atlantic Championship powered by Mazda.
In making the announcement, Jay Amestoy, vice president of public and government affairs, said, "This is a great example of a career coming full circle. Dean began his professional career with Mazda and has never lost his love for our products and people. Given the diversity of Mazda in motorsports, he'll be very busy!" Case most recently managed the inaugural Formula SAE West student design competition. Prior to that, he worked at Nissan, Ford, and Mazda where he held various positions related to engineering, motorsports, alternative fuels, and communications. Case holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
