Oct 2, 2007

IRVINE, Calif., October 2, 2007 - Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported its best September since 1994 with U.S. sales of 25,098 units, a 23.9 percent increase versus the same period last year. Year-to-date sales of 228,396 are up 9.2 percent year-over-year.

Mazda's crossover SUV lineup continues to post strong sales led by the three-row, seven- passenger CX-9, which recorded its best month since launch with 2,766 units. CX-7 and Tribute rounded out the lineup with sales of 3,610 and 1,821 units respectively. To date, Mazda has sold more than 50,000 crossover SUVs.

"This month's tremendous sales results can be attributed to the strength of our crossover SUV lineup," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO, Mazda North American Operations.  "Fuel economy and gas prices remain top-of-mind for consumers and all three of our crossover SUVs offer excellent fuel efficiency without sacrificing size, performance or styling."

MAZDA 3 continues to be a force to be reckoned with as it celebrated its best September since launch with sales of 10,629 units, accounting for a 58.1 percent increase versus last year. September also marks the fifth straight month MAZDA 3 sales have eclipsed the 10,500 unit mark. For the year, MAZDA 3 sales are up 27.7 percent and are nearing the 100,000-unit mark.

Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) continues its string of impressive sales with 1,378 vehicles sold, more than double September 2006. On a year-to-date basis, MMdM reported 11,456 total sales.

Rounding out North America, Mazda Canada, Inc. reported its best-ever September with sales of 7,055 units, accounting for a 0.2 percent increase versus last year. On a year-to-date basis, sales are up 9.0 percent with 71,093 units sold.
