MAZDA NORTH AMERICAN OPERATIONS RECOGNIZED BY CIO MAGAZINE AS ONE OF THE CIO 100 AWARD HONOREES
-CIO Jim DiMarzio to receive award during CIO 100 Symposium & Awards Ceremony-
Aug 3, 2012
IRVINE, Calif. (August 2, 2012) – Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today announced that its Information Technology team, led by chief information officer, Jim DiMarzio, has been chosen by CIO magazine as a recipient of the 2012 CIO 100 for MNAO’s revolutionary Interactive Sales Experience Application (ISEA). The 25th annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT).
"For 25 years now, the CIO 100 awards have honored the innovative use of technology to deliver genuine business value," said Maryfran Johnson, editor-in-chief of CIO magazine. "Our 2012 winners are an outstanding example of the transformative power of IT to drive everything from revenue growth to competitive advantage."
“I’m honored to receive this prestigious award on behalf of the entire IT team at MNAO,” said Jim DiMarzio, MNAO’s director and chief information officer of information technology, “but the true honorees should be the entire Mazda IT team. This is a representation of the hard work and perseverance of everyone involved in our support and development teams, and to represent their efforts and successes as a member of the CIO 100 is the best recognition I can offer to their talents and achievements.”
Mazda has developed an entirely new twist on the in-dealership sales experience for customers by providing its dealers with an opportunity to use the specially developed ISE application. Based on the well-known Apple iPad platform, the application works to enhance the experience of Mazda customers by allowing dealership sales personnel to access information on-the-fly instead of a “research and return” type response. Mazda customers can now receive answers to tough product questions immediately which enable them to quickly see the advantages of buying a Mazda while increasing sales satisfaction at the Mazda dealership.
Executives from the winning companies will be recognized at the CIO 100 Symposium & Awards Ceremony, to be held Tuesday evening, Aug. 21 at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.
About the CIO 100
The recipients of this year's CIO 100 award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative IT and business initiatives. Next, a team of judges reviewed the applications in depth, looking for unique practices and substantial results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges' recommendations and voted on the final 100.
Complete coverage of the 2012 CIO 100 awards is available online at www.cio.com and appears in the August 1 issue of CIO magazine.
