IRVINE, Calif. (April 21, 2014) – Mazda Statement:

“Mazda has decided to conduct a safety recall on MY 2001-2004 Tribute vehicles for a corrosion concern on the subframe, which may lead to front lower control arm separation. In some affected vehicles, a corrosion-related separation of the forward attachment from the lower control arm from the subframe may occur when the vehicle is operated for an extended period in high-corrosion environments. Separation of the lower control arm from the subframe may result in diminished vehicle directional control.

Approximately 109,000 vehicles are affected from MY 2001-2004 Tributes sold or registered in high-corrosion states. We will continue to monitor the performance of vehicles in all states. There have been no accidents or injuries as a result of this situation. Affected customers will be notified beginning in May.”
