HIROSHIMA , Japan— Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that, on July 5, 2006, its Hofu plant in Yamaguchi Prefecture has reached a cumulative vehicle production volume of seven million units. This milestone was achieved 23 years and 10 months since manufacture of the Mazda Capella (known as the Mazda 626 in overseas markets) commenced at the Hofu Plant No.1 in September 1982.
Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that total global production of the MAZDA6 (known as Atenza in Japan) reached the one million-unit mark in late February 2006. It took four years and one month to reach this important milestone since the first MAZDA6 came off the line at the Hofu No. 2 Plant in February 2002. This is the fastest time ever to reach one million units of production for a single Mazda vehicle model.
