    Starting Operations at Ujina Plant Number 2 in May

    Mazda Motor Corporation today officially confirmed that it would start operations at its Ujina Plant Number 2—known as U2 and located within the Ujina District of the company’s Hiroshima complex—on May 26 in an effort to increase domestic production capacity. Concurrently, the last vehicle, a Bongo Van, rolled off the final assembly line at Mazda's Hiroshima Plant (F Plant) just before noon local time, April 21, 2004.

    -The company that reinvented the roadster extends its record-setting production for lightweight, open two-seater sports cars

    HIROSHIMA—Mazda Motor Corporation marked a significant production milestone on March 5 as the 700,000th Mazda Roadster (known as Miata and MX-5 in other markets) rolled off the assembly line at the Ujina No. 1 plant near Mazda’s headquarters in Hiroshima, Japan. Vehicle number 700,000, powered by the new 1.8-liter turbocharged, 178-horsepower engine and painted Velocity Red Mica, will be shipped to the U.S. market.  Read More »

    NEW YORK, April 16, 2003: Mazda will unveil the Mazda MX Sportif, its new concept car, on April 17 during an 11:25 a.m. press conference on its stage at the New York Auto Show. Mazda also will feature its two new flagship vehicles—the iconic RX-8 sports car and MAZDA6 sports sedan—at the show, as well as its full lineup of vehicles, including the new MAZDASPEED Protegé.

    “The MX Sportif truly embodies the next chapter in the story Mazda has been writing for the past two years,” said Mazda Design Director Moray Callum.
